Online TV Viewing explosion. Are you watching yet?

Online TV rouse has been gaining in popularity. Nearly fifth part of American households who use the internet watch video recording broadcasts online, double the viewership from 2006, The Conference Board and TNS report. The top two destinations for online broadcasts are the official TV channel homepage and YouTube.com.
“Most consumers are pressed for time and require flexibleness in their daily schedules and TV viewing habits,” says Lynn Franco, Director of The Conference Board Consumer Research Center. “Being able to watch broadcasts on their own time and at their convenience are clearly reasons why we are seeing a greater number turning to the Internet. And, it is the reason why we would expect to see this trend continue.”

Among consumers connecting to online broadcasts, 43 percent tune into the news, 39 percent watch drama shows, 34 percent view sitcom/comedy shows, 23 percent watch reality shows, 16 percent view sports, and 15 percent view user generated content. Other categories attracting viewers include previews, additional content from darling shows, soap operas, and advertisements.

I love my live internet tv stats so here we go..(pause for pharynx clearance..)Did you know that amongst online TV users, that nine out of ten like to view online tv in the home. The rest watch internet decants from their office with a small remainder viewing from other locations, such as friends house, car, library etc.
The survey was carried out by a company called TNS. Michael Saxon, Senior Vice President commented:- “Viewers transfer from appointment TV to content on demand is well underway. Fundamentally, consumers expect content to be available when they want it, and on the screen of their choice TV, PC, or mobile. For consumers, PCs enhance content on demand from simply ‘time shifting’ to ‘prop shifting’. Online content can be viewed in any room in the house, or at work or school.”

Other popular sites used for internet tv viewing are hulu, iTunes, diverse p2p and file sharing websites and the social net sites such as Digg. And not forgetting of run-in top-liveinternet-tv.com, im sure its in that list somewhere.

We all lead pretty busy lives and dont have time to casually search the constitutional internet to find the lowest movie streams and tv show streams. Wouldnt it be great if soul, somewhere could make our lives easier?
